The Ellsworth Community School District Foundation's Teacher of the Year Award is the highest honor the Foundation can bestow. The award consists of a significant cash award and a memento presented at the Ellsworth High School graduation ceremony.
The honor is designed to recognize a teacher who has demonstrated an unusual commitment to inspire students to reach their goals. Nominees should have earned the respect of students and others through sustained effort, high moral standards, and the likelihood of enduring beneficial effects on the students with whom they have worked.
Any current teacher within the Ellsworth Community School District is eligible for nomination. Any current student or alumnus who is not employed by the Ellsworth Community School District can make nominations.

It is our organization’s distinct pleasure to announce that Mr. Ryan Casper has been named the 2023 Teacher of the Year! The award was presented to Mr. Casper during the Ellsworth High School graduation ceremony on Friday, May 26, 2023.
Throughout his 25-year tenure at Ellsworth High School, Mr. Casper has not only been an exceptional educator but also a mentor who establishes meaningful connections with each student. By combining factual knowledge with personal life experiences, he creates a dynamic learning environment.
His captivating storytelling skills never fail to bring smiles to his students' faces. With every lesson, his dedication to educating students about political events and government processes ensures they grasp a deeper understanding of government and politics. Furthermore, his extensive military experience spanning nearly four decades provides him with a wealth of unparalleled experience and knowledge.
Beyond the classroom, Mr. Casper inspires his students to make a positive impact on the world, irrespective of whether it is through political means or otherwise. His powerful question, "When are you going to change the world?" has left a lasting impression on countless students, fostering a desire to bring about positive change.
Mr. Casper's genuine care for his students extends beyond academics, as he actively engages with their lives and well-being. He has contributed his leadership to various clubs and fundraising activities, demonstrating his commitment to improving our school and community. As Mr. Casper prepares to retire from both teaching and the military, this honor serves as a fitting tribute to his exemplary career.
