The Ellsworth Community School District Foundation's Teacher of the Year Award is the highest honor the Foundation can bestow. The award consists of a significant cash award and a memento presented at the Ellsworth High School graduation ceremony.
The honor is designed to recognize a teacher who has demonstrated an unusual commitment to inspire students to reach their goals. Nominees should have earned the respect of students and others through sustained effort, high moral standards, and the likelihood of enduring beneficial effects on the students with whom they have worked.
Any current teacher within the Ellsworth Community School District is eligible for nomination. Any current student or alumnus who is not employed by the Ellsworth Community School District can make nominations.

The Ellsworth Community School District Foundation is proud to announce Marcia Jahnke as the 2025 Teacher of the Year!
Marcia is amazing in the classroom. She puts forth as much effort as she can to ensure that every single student succeeds. She is a master at making complex scientific concepts accessible and engaging for all learners. Her intelligence shines through in her ability to differentiate instruction so that each student, regardless of their background or learning style, can find success. More than that, she brings energy and creativity to her lessons, making science both fun and memorable.
She has a unique way of connecting with students, whether it is telling stories or sharing similar life experiences. Her passion for education, and her ability to make learning fun and meaningful make her truly deserving of this recognition.
